Distributor Name: Seneca Beverage Corp.
Seneca Beverage Corporation was founded on June 3, 1968 by John F. Potter. John followed in his father, Donald C. Potter’s, footsteps in beer distribution when he left Onondaga Beverage in Syracuse and purchased the former Empire Foods in Elmira. At the time, he was the youngest Anheuser-Busch wholesaler in the country. Today, John’s children, the third generation of Potters, have become involved at Seneca Beverage where John Jr. is Sales Execution Coordinator and Betsy is Craft Brand Manager, Salesperson and Better World (CSR) Coordinator.
SBC built a new 92,000 sq ft warehouse on Lake Rd. in Elmira Heights that was completed in September of 2011. Our former warehouse now houses the Southern Tier Food Bank., and was constructed in 1972 after a move from the original building in downtown Elmira. Mergers and acquisitions over the years provided for expansions made to the building which occurred in 1984, 1989, and 1992. The company grew from 17 employees in 1968 to 72 full time employees at the present time. In our continuing dedication to improve our portfolio of brands, SBC has established a dedicated craft team to assist our sales department with the growth and development of these brands.
Seneca Beverage Corporation is proud to distribute in five and a half counties: Chemung, Steuben, Schuyler, Tompkins, Cortland and a portion of Tioga County.
The Potter family & their employees are involved in numerous charitable and community endeavors including St. Peter and Paul’s Soup Kitchen, St. Peter and Paul’s Recreation Center Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Southern Tier Food Bank, Five Rivers Boy Scout Council, and Glove House.
